Let me start by saying that I could hardly wait for this book so today(release day) at 4:15am I bought the book and started reading. Of course I was unable to put it down. For readers not familiar with this series(Caged series) I would suggest you read the first three as it is a continuing story. The main character is Ruby(and sometimes her other self Scarlet). She manages to attract trouble at every turn and boy does she have trouble in spades in this book.The men that love her, Sean and Cooper are major players in the books too. I have always been a Cooper fan but with this book I have been won over by Sean.He definitely ups the romance level in this book. We have a return of other major characters as well-some welcome and some not so welcome.The story moves effortlessly as Ruby/Scarlet goes from one trouble to the next. Her wit,sarcasm and yes temper, are still very much in evidence even with all she goes through. Ruby is definitely a survivor. No spoiler there, as this is a seven book series!I am so glad of that and really wish we didn't have to wait for the next book. I love the way Amber writes and certainly this one did not disappoint.The editing was well done as usual with this authors work. If you love a good paranormal/thriller romance this is the series to read.It definitely is worthy of all five stars I gave it. So turn the tv and phone off, get comfy and hunker down because you will find it really hard to put down. Enjoy!Product details

Like many other readers, I could not put this book down! I love this series. It is the perfect combination of paranormal mystery/suspense mixed-in with the complications of romantic entanglements. The books take you through the whole gamut of emotions so that you are thinking about the story long after you finish it. Sometimes I just want to scream at Ruby for her choices! You can just see how things are going to go so wrong, especially when her decisions usually cause such damage to the relationships she has with the men in her life.
We get a better understanding of Sean in this book, and you cannot help but fall a little more in love with him. He is in such a difficult position when it comes to Ruby - both she and Scarlet continually put him into unwinnable situations due to his role as the leader of the PC. It is heart wrenching.
The ending killed me. I felt despair until reading the last comments in the book which belong to Sean - there, amongst the promise of much more revelations to come, I found a glimmer of hope. I cannot wait for the next book!
After book 3 I literally couldn't stop reading, but it was because of Sean. Call me crazy but I love - love this one! I think I fall for Sean from the very first moment and there was really nothing to be done about it… until the Boy Scout showed up in this book in a completely different way! This love, passion and edge of feelings were literally driving me crazy! This book is truly amazing, twisted, interesting and overwhelming! I love it in all ways! I don't want to give any spoilers, but all the last chapters I was crying my eyes out! and ones I finished reading the last word, I immediately started book 5. I'm really glad that I started with the series, when 5 books were out, because I can't imagine what torture it must have been not to be able to continue reading book 4, after 3 and book 5 after 4. I think it's maddening. All I can say, that so far book 3 and 4 are my favorites one in this series! They are really the best and got a very strong emotions that you have to live through! A must read series and books )
If you haven't read Caged, Haunted and Framed (in that order), then I suggest you do that before reading Scarred.
The Rev is back after a short hiatus and he is determined to take Scarlet (and Ruby) for himself. At the same time Ruby is trying to mend her relationship with Sean, Ronnie and Peyta after the events that took place in Framed.
There was a lot to love about Scarred. There was plenty of action; the requisite snark, although perhaps not as much as the past few books, but enough; and a bit of action between the sheets, on the counter, against the wall etc. I really loved the character development too. There was more insight into what makes each of the main characters,(especially Cooper and Sean) think and act the way they do.
I enjoyed the improved synergy between Ruby and Scarlett - well until that got shot to hell later in the book anyway. The ending was great in that 'I don't know whether I love the author or want to strangle her' kind of way! I think some fans may have problems with the ending, but I trust Amber as an author and know that she wouldn't have written it like that without good reason.
The one other thing that stood out to me was the decrease in the amount of narration compared with the first 3 books. Ruby tended to stay more focused on what was going on outside her own head. I liked that she is maturing enough to be thinking about the bigger picture more often and not just fashion, her store or her dancing. Not that I have a problem with any of those things, but she let those little things crowd her mind which resulted in her reactionary (and often immature) behaviour. I figure she did that to give her some peace from all the crap in the past few books, but it distracted me a bit from the overall story. Anyway, in Scarred it wasn't an issue.
Overall I loved the book. When I finished it I think my reaction was, "NO!!! No, no, no..." Now I'm going to wait very impatiently for book 5!
Poor Ruby. This round really tests her and her sanity. Relationships get defined and new characters introduced. In this book she has four vying for her attention and love. This poor girl can't get a break. A murdering roque on the loose, a new unauthorized wolf , friends in danger and a new mystery man. And if that isn't enough her wolf Scarlett is trying to take control. A well written story that keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next. Never a dull moment. A cliffhanger and I can't wait for the next book to see what happens next.
